Album Review! Trey Songz “Chapter V” – What They’re Saying About It… (Videos Inside)

While other artists who originally started off R&B have switched over to mainstream pop, like Ne-Yo, Usher and Chris Brown, Tremaine “Trey Songz” Neverson hasn’t betrayed the genre that turned him into the superstar he is today. Trey Songz delivers “Chapter V” at a time when R&B singers are scarce.

“‘Chapter V’ will take you to the club with “Hail Mary” with Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne as well as the Diddy and Meek Mill-assisted “Check Me Out,” and then whisk you to the bedroom with the ballads “Dive In” and the appropriately titled ‘Panty Wetter.'” – Billboard

The R&B junkie definitely catered to the ladies opening a “much-admired book” with “Chapter V”. Showing off his rapping capabilities in track such as “Playin’ Hard”— It’s obvious the singer-songwriter, now rapper has evolved into a talented man since his debut album “I Gotta Make It.” Trey, you’ve definitely made it—”Yuuup!”

What critics are saying:

“Fans will be completely surprised and refreshed by all of the vulnerable sides of Trey in the songs “Pretty Girls Lie,” “Bad Decisions,” and the old school “Without A Woman.” – Billboard

“For years Trey Songz has been squeezing into Mr. Kelly’s shadow, not a surprise for a man who, on his fifth album, Chapter V, spells interlude ‘interlewd.’” – New York Times

“Songz might be R&B’s most single-minded star, with little of D’Angelo‘s private mysticism or R.Kelly’s flair for the soap-operatic.” – Los Angeles Times

“Songz has a knack for revving up the libido with smooth pillow talk and sly suggestions, and he doesn’t disappoint here.” – USA Today
