Police Accuse A New York City Man of Plotting to Make A Bomb for Terror Purposes

A New York City man was charged last night by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office of plotting to make a bomb for the purpose of killing government employees and military soldiers returning home for the holidays according to a statement released by Mayor Michael Bloomberg last night at a 7:30pm press conference.

Police describe suspect Jose Pimentel as a “Lone Wolfe” who is acting on his own and not a part of any terror network as someone who was disappointed with the American policies abroad as it related to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the police affidavit, Pimentel was busted in a Harlem, New York apartment finishing the final stages of constructing a pipe bomb from a recipe he got off the Internet. While the story of anyone plotting to cause havac in a city that has already been the victim of terrorism comes as a complete shock to many however there are some questioning the way Mayor Bloomberg made the announcement by calling a press conference on a Sunday night leading up to the holiday season was just motivated by some of the negative publicity the city has seen for the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. Suspicions were even more greater because of the non involvement by federal law enforcement.
