Russell Simmons Has Spoken! Says Kendrick Lamar “Is Absolutely A Better Rapper” Than Macklemore

On Monday Russell Simmons participated in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit. Simmons was asked how he felt about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis winning over Kendrick Lamar for the Grammy award for Best Rap Album. Chosing his words carefully, Simmons praised both artists for their contributions to hip-hop and went on to say “Kendrick is absolutely a better rapper, and Macklemore has one of the most inspiring, socially conscious songs of the year and that is what did well for him. Macklemore’s a great rapper, but there is no evidence anywhere that he’s a better artist than Lamar.”

In a later interview, Simmons gave a similar response. Proving that he felt very strongly about the subject he said, “Kendrick is the better rapper no doubt but Macklemore had the power of an important social message.” It seems fair to say that Kendrick and The Grammy’s definitely have a few people speaking out. Who’s next?
