Thruway – “We Be Gunnin”

Before listening to the smooth stylings of Thruway’s “We Be Gunnin’” (produced by SPKilla), prepare yourself for a track that’s as an eclectic mosaic in it’s production, as it is a classic hip-hop record in it’s delivery.

Immediately out of the gate, the Corona emcee demonstrates his blended cadence over a looping baseline that you’d find in many Motown hits, topped off with a drum machine. The simple beat paired with this multi-syllabic flows feel perfectly complimentary as the sample of Prodigy’s “Shook Ones Pt. II.”

Thruway constantly displays his influences readily in his music, alongside his eagerness to keep the art form alive in it’s natural state—regardless of what other artists do for spins.
